Bequests And Donations

There are various ways in which you can contribute towards the welfare of animals in the Knysna area and ensure that the Knysna Animal Welfare Society remains financially able to continue with its noble work.

Probably the simplest way of contributing is via our debit order system.
By signing up for a debit order, whether it is R20 per month or R200 per month, it makes it much easier to plan our operations by knowing that we will receive, in the same way as a salary, a certain amount of money on a fixed day, every month.

“My doctrine is this: that if we see cruelty or wrong that we have the power to stop, and we do nothing, we make ourselves sharers in the guilt.”
- Anna Sewell, English Novelist

All you need to do is send an e-mail requesting a debit order form, upon which you will be faxed a very simple form to complete, authorizing us to debit the specified amount from your account every month.

If this arrangement does not suit you, a simple once-off donation will always be appreciated. This can either be sent to us by post (P.O. Box 288, Knysna, 6570) or you can make a deposit into our account, the details of which follow:

Knysna Animal Welfare Society
FNB-Knysna
Branch Code 210-214
Account Number 527 000 33146

When you next go shopping and you receive a handful of coins as change, have a look around for either one of our square blue collection boxes (it usually has a little dog on top) or one of our smaller green collection tins. Those coins weighing down your wallet could make a huge difference to the life of a less fortunate creature.

Our charity shop, situated in Market Street, Knysna, will gladly accept any used clothing, small items of furniture, kitchenware and ornaments.
Volunteer workers operate this shop and the proceeds of the sales go directly back into the operating budget of the society. We will gladly collect items from you.

Periodically, we have street collections whereby volunteers; wearing bright green bibs collect money at strategic points in town. If you spot one of them, please drop a coin, or a note into the tin.

Drawing up a will is not a pleasant thought, but we all have to do it at some point or another. Please bear the Knysna Animal Welfare Society in mind as a beneficiary, whether it is a straight forward cash bequest, a bequest of personal property or a percentage of your estate, this will ensure that you will continue to make a difference.

Please do make sure that you specify “Knysna Animal Welfare Society” as the beneficiary as to avoid confusion with welfare associations operating in other parts of the country.

Next time you find yourself at the Knysna Quays, take a walk towards the ferry departure point where you will find a bronze sculpture of Knysna’s own famous canine, Bondi. Although Bondi died many years ago, he still continues to collect money for less fortunate dogs and cats. Next to him you will notice a collection hatch, along with a very interesting story as to his ties with Knysna. Again, feel free to lighten up your pockets a bit. Remember, every lit bit no matter how small really does count in the life of a less than happy creature.

THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF THOSE THAT YOU WILL HELP.
